Tämä blogi on aina ollut suomenkielinen. Aluksi se oli sitä hyvästä syystä: olin ollut vaihdossa ja vaikka kuinka käytinkin suomea puhekielenä, tuntui suomenkielisen tekstin kirjoittaminen hitaalta ja työläältä. Omaa kieltä piti siis päästä harjoittamaan vapaamuotoisen kirjoittamisen muodossa. (Luonnollisestikaan blogia ei aloitettu vain siitä syystä, vaan muitakin oli.)
Sittemmin tietysti tästä ongelmasta on päästy eroon. Kun kirjoittaa, on kirjoittaminen tietyllä kielellä helpompaa, ja kun kirjoittaminen noin ylipäätään on helpompaa tulee sitä (ainakin toivottavasti) tehtyä enemmän. Vaan nyt olen alkanut pohtia toisenlaista kielikysymystä: kun kasvava osa ystävistä ja tuttavista ei puhu tai lue suomea, haluaisinko jakaa näitä ajatuksiani myös heidän kanssaan? Ja jos ihan rehellisiä ollaan, niin vastaus on kyllä.
Olen siis päättänyt, että haluan kirjoittaa tähän blogiin suomen lisäksi välillä myös englanniksi. Suomen on tarkoitus jatkossakin olla blogin pääkieli ja kaikki merkinnät tehdään suomeksi, mutta sen ohella olen ajatellut kirjoittaa merkinnät englanniksi joko kokonaisuudessaan tai ainakin tiivistelmiä. Ainakin osan merkinnöistä. Kielissä mennään varmaan aika fiilis pohjalta, mutta etenkin englanninkielisiä kirjoja lukiessa tuntuu yleensä luontevammalta myös kirjoittaa niistä englanniksi.
Mutta tosiaan, tämä tiedonantona teille kaikille lukijoille, jottette ihmettele, jos ja kun suomenkielisen tekstin perään alkaa ilmestyä englanninkielistä papatusta.

I've been blogging for years. That means, I've been blogging for years in Finnish. Finnish language is my own language and has (almost) always felt like the most natural language to write. That is why this blog has also been in Finnish. But the thing is that I have quite a lot of friends around the globe who can't speak or read Finnish (you are probably one of them as you are reading this text now). And I'd like to share my writings with them (you) too. So what I've desided is this: in the future I'll write my blog entries not only in Finnish but also in English, at least to some extent. I'll try to write the same text in English or a summary of what I've written in Finnish to every blog post I'll do. Or if not to every single one, to most of them anyway. (Fell free to make me feel guilty any time I'm slacking and not writing enought English.)
"So what is the blog about" you might be wondering. Well, for the most part it's a review blog. I write shortish, easy little reviews about the books I've read and movies I've seen as well as occasionally about some other culture things like gigs or some TV or internet things. The reviews are usually on the positive side mostly because I rarely feel a calling to write about things I don't really enjoy. I want to remember the positive, not the negative, so they are really kind of booktips too.
But reviews are not the only thing you'll find here. As this is my blog that I write to myself more than to anyone else, I have kept the right to write here what ever feels like a cool thing to write about at any given time. So the blogs tends to branch of to all kinds of different directions. There has been photo entries and decoration entries and all other kind of entries too. Really mixed things really. But I hope the things I write are still things you'll find interesting. So welcome and I hope you'll enjoy my blog.
